Warner Bros. were promoting the game at Pax West in 2017, and needed a statement piece that would not only entice players and press to the exhibit, but really ingrain them in the LOTR universe Monolith had created.

What better talking point could there be at an event than an enormous fire-breathing dragon? (Well, it was technically a drake) From concept stage – including 3D computer-generated models and clay moulds – until building, painting and activation, our drake was a fearsome beast; mouth open to show off his deadly fangs above a promotional ‘Shadow of War’ stone monument. A drake alone that people could just look at wouldn’t do, though. Our conceptual designers and safety experts also built a saddle and mount onto our drake statue, so attendees could climb atop and ride it. With his fearsome look, it provided the perfect photo opportunity and was featured on numerous blogs and websites covering Pax West 17.
