The scavenger feels most at home on wide plains and in sparse forests, where it has enough space to run and hunt. It rarely travels alone; scavengers live in herds, and the larger animals always keep a watchful eye on the young. It eats anything that cannot run away fast enough and is considered by adventurers to be a reliable, albeit involuntary, source of meat. The large, two-legged, flightless bird has a bony skull plate and a cry that can be heard before it is seen. Do not underestimate it! A scavenger may look clumsy, especially when running, but it is a fast, persistent hunter that can bite relentlessly and powerfully with its beak. However, those who engage in battle and kill a scavenger will be richly rewarded. When roasted, its juicy meat is a real delicacy!
