In times of scarcity, protection of resources is everything. Finding a water tower at the centre of this ramshackle fortress thus comes as no surprise, as everyday water supply to homes and businesses is ancient history in Fallout games. In this concept sketch, Ilya Nazarov imagined more than a mere in-game location. The team needed ideas for the (new) player ability to freely craft settlements, or deconstruct them for materials, and this sketch provides exactly that.

Fallout 4 is the fifth installment in the Fallout video game series. The games are characterized by their inventive take on post-apocalyptic science fiction. Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, they pit players against the hazards of a vast nuclear wasteland. The game world is defined by 1950's 'Space Age' aesthetics, generating a strong retro-futuristic feel that sets Fallout apart from other sci-fi games.
