'Nothing is written' is an official concept artwork for Battlefield 1, the video game created by EA DICE. The artist is DICE Senior Concept Artist Robert Sammelin. One of Battlefield 1's single player missions involves a role as a Bedouin warrior, rebelling against the Ottoman Empire by joining the Arab Revolt, fighting alongside the legendary 'Lawrence of Arabia'. Historically, this meant fighting a technologically superior enemy, basically on horseback, to push back Turkish troops from strategic positions. Taking cues from the historical situation, this concept art drawing for the 'Nothing is Written'-mission shows the Arab troops advancing on a Turkish position, confident with victory.

Battlefield 1 is a first person shooter game in the Battlefield-series, made by EA DICE in Stockholm and first released Fall 2016. The game is set in World War I, allowing for both gritty details from the gruesome fighting in that war, but also weapons and fighting styles that are as far apart as aiming flame throwers at tanks, and hitting soldiers with shovels. Visually, the game takes its cues from a wide range of media: WWI-era photographs and film, but also post-war romanticized paintings, or the Lawrence of Arabia movie.
